DT Solution Awarded LG Chem Document Management System Project
In May 2023, DT Solution signed a contract to build a design-document submission and management system for the petrochemical division of LG Chem.
Why it was needed
In petrochemical plants, numerous EPC contractors and engineering firms work in parallel, submitting massive volumes of design documents — P&IDs and piping, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation drawings — stage by stage. A single revision-control slip can cause construction or procurement to proceed against an outdated drawing, with critical consequences. LG Chem's petrochemical division needed a standardized document-management framework to govern the full submission, review, approval, and distribution cycle of documents produced by multiple partners under a single source of truth.
How it was adopted
DT Solution first assessed the existing submission process and coding scheme, then standardized the workflow — submission, review, comment response, approval, and distribution — into the system. We designed the collaboration flow in which partners submit directly and the owner reviews and approves, screen by screen, and validated the build against actual document data.
DT Solution's role
- Delivered the full design-document submission and management system build
- Established standard coding for document classification, revisions, and numbering
- Designed and implemented the submit-review-approve-distribute workflow and partner collaboration screens
- Built a searchable, traceable document repository and provided user training and stabilization support
Resulting value
- Single latest revision — ensures construction and procurement always work from the approved current drawing
- Full submission/approval traceability — records who submitted and approved what, and when
- Unified partner collaboration — submissions and responses handled in one system instead of email and manual logs
- Visibility into gaps and delays — unapproved or delayed documents identified early
